lie in Allah being the One they worship, to whom their love and will ultimately lead, with this being the ultimate goal and final end.
For this reason, any deed performed for other than Allah does not benefit the one who performs it, and may even harm him. The deeds of those who disbelieve are:
“Like ashes swept fiercely by the wind on a stormy day. They are unable to keep anything of what they have earned.”
[Ibrāhīm: 18]
Allah Most High says:
“I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.”
[al-Dhāriyāt: 56]
Worshipping Him is thus the goal in which their soundness lies. For a human being is constantly striving and forming intentions, as the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
“The truest names are al-Hārith and Hammām.”
Al-Hārith means one who earns, while Hammām means one who frequently forms intentions, intention being the first stage of willing. A human being therefore moves through volition, and everyone who wills must have an object of their will.
Allah must be the intended object sought through these movements. Therein lie the soundness, happiness and perfection of souls. The same holds true of the higher realm.
There are three kinds of motion: natural, forced and voluntary. The source of motion is either within the moving entity or outside it. Motion originating outside it is forced and involuntary. If it originates within the moving entity and occurs with its awareness, it is voluntary; otherwise, it is natural.
Natural motion is recognized only when a body is displaced from its natural centre, as in the ascent of a stone
