The proof of this is His saying, glorified and exalted is He:
“There is not a thing but that it glorifies Him with praise.”
That is, everything glorifies Him. Ibn ‘Abbās said: “Even the plants He created glorify Him with praise.” ‘Ikrimah said: “Let none of you curse his garment or his mount, for there is not a thing but that it glorifies Him with praise.” It is also related that the creaking of a door is glorification of Allah.
He, glorified is He, said:
“O mountains, repeat His praises with him, and you birds too.”
It has been related that this means: “Glorify Him.”
He, glorified is He, said:
“Have they not considered the things Allah has created, whose shadows turn to the right and to the left, prostrating to Allah in humble submission?”
That is, abased.
He, glorified is He, said:
“Do you not see that to Allah prostrates whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on earth, as do the sun, the moon, the stars, the mountains, the trees, the animals, and many people? But many have become deserving of punishment”—to the end of the verse.
And His saying, glorified is He:
“Whatever is in the heavens and the earth has glorified Allah.”
The verb “glorified” tells of both the past and what is to come, informing us that everything glorifies Him with praise, prostrates before His greatness, and acknowledges His divinity and oneness. It is inconceivable that things should prostrate to and glorify one unknown to them.
