arrogance, associating partners with Him, and aversion, must either bear the same relation to the natural disposition, or the natural disposition must entail the former but not the latter.
If both stand on an equal footing, this would preclude any grounds for praise, as explained above. There would be no difference between calling the soul to disbelief and calling it to faith, and making it Magian would be no different from making it purely monotheistic. The falsity of this has already been established.
If, however, it contains something that entails the former, then either this necessarily produces its effect when no opposing factor is present, or it depends on a person external to the soul.
If the former is true, it is established that this is inherent in the soul, that the soul is naturally disposed to it, and that it is lost only when the natural disposition is corrupted.
If it is said that it depends on a person, then that person is the one who makes the soul purely monotheistic, just as he makes it Magian. In that case, there is no difference between the two.
If it is said, “It inclines more toward pure monotheism,” this would be like saying, “It inclines more toward Christianity.”
It is thus clear that the soul contains a capacity that necessarily gives rise to love for Allah, submission to Him, and exclusive devotion to Him, and that this capacity necessarily produces its effect when free from any opposing factor—just as the soul contains a capacity that impels it to drink milk, which it is naturally disposed to love and seek.

Further clarification comes from the fact that every voluntary movement is brought about by a capacity within the one who wills it. If a human being can love Allah, worship Him, and devote himself exclusively to Him, then he must possess a capacity that entails this. Voluntary actions can have their cause only within the living, willing agent himself, and nothing is required for his willing something beyond mere awareness of the object of his will. Thus, what souls possess by way of
