The Most High says:
“Those who believe and do not mix their faith with wrongdoing—it is they who will have security, and they are rightly guided.”
The Most High also says:
“Whatever mercy Allah grants people, none can withhold; and whatever He withholds, none can release after Him. He is the Almighty, the All-Wise.”
Since the paths to the truth are revelation and reason, and the two are inseparable, whoever follows the path of reason is led to the path of revelation—namely, recognition of the Messenger’s truthfulness. Whoever follows the path of revelation has the rational proofs made clear to him, as the Quran has explained. The wretched person who suffers punishment is the one who follows neither path.
As the people of the Fire say:
“Had we listened or used our reason, we would not have been among the people of the Blazing Fire.”
The Most High says:
“Have they not travelled through the land, so that they may have hearts with which to reason or ears with which to hear? It is not the eyes that are blind, but the hearts within the breasts.”
Thus, He, glorified be He, denies that associating partners with Him has any basis in revelation or reason. He also denies that He has any partner in divinity or lordship, as in His saying:
“Say, ‘Have you considered those you invoke besides Allah? Show me what they have created of the earth, or do they have a share in the heavens?
