These heretics reviled Him by claiming that existing things were begotten of Him, and called Him a liar by saying, “He will not bring us back as He first created us.” In this, they resembled their counterparts among the Arab heretics.
Allah Most High says:
“And man says, ‘When I have died, will I really be brought forth alive?’ Does man not remember that We created him before, when he was nothing?”
Then, further on, He says:
“Have you seen the one who disbelieves in Our signs and says, ‘I will surely be given wealth and children’? Has he gained knowledge of the unseen, or taken a covenant from the Most Merciful? No! We will record what he says and greatly prolong his punishment. We will inherit from him what he speaks of, and he will come to Us alone.”
Then, further on, He Most High says:
“They say, ‘The Most Merciful has taken a child.’ You have indeed said a monstrous thing! The heavens almost split apart at it, the earth splits open, and the mountains collapse in ruins, because they attribute a child to the Most Merciful. It is not fitting for the Most Merciful to take a child. Everyone in the heavens and the earth will come to the Most Merciful as a servant. He has encompassed them all and counted them precisely. Each of them will come to Him alone on the Day of Resurrection.”
In this passage, He, glorified be He, refutes both those who deny the resurrection and those who say that He has taken a child, just as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) brought the two together in the hadith.
