Certainly not! The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) approved it, knowing its implications and that it is the soundest of statements—a declaration on account of which its speaker must be acknowledged as a believer. It was for this reason that he testified to her faith when she said it. How, then, could the truth lie in the opposite, when the Book expressly affirms it and bears witness to it?”
He said:
“Even if the only evidence supporting the soundness of the community’s position on this particular subject were the matters we have mentioned, that would suffice. How much more so when knowledge of this has been implanted in people’s innate constitution and understanding, with nothing clearer or more firmly established? He stated that none opposed the community in this except a small number who claimed to be the best of people: Jahm and a few men with him. Ibn Kullāb also explained that the position of the Jahmiyyah parallels that of the Dahriyyah (eternalists). It is indeed as he said, for the ultimate implication of the Jahmiyyah’s position is that nothing exists except the world.
He said:
