And none but myself prayed to me ... nor was my prayer directed to another in any unit of prayer.

He goes on to say:

I have always been her, and she has always been me ... there is no distinction; rather, my essence has loved itself.
I was a messenger sent from myself to myself ... and my essence, through my signs, is proof of me.
If I am called, I am the one who answers ... and if I call, she who called me answers and responds to my summons.
I have removed the tā of second-person address between us ... and by removing it I rise beyond the separation that distinction brings.
Leave the error of distinction, for union brings forth ... the guidance of a group that speaks of union.
