and the words of Allah Most High:
“None dispute the signs of Allah except those who disbelieve, so do not let their movement throughout the land deceive you.”
[Ghāfir: 4].
And His words, Most High:
“Thus We have appointed for every prophet enemies—devils from among humankind and jinn—who whisper to one another alluring words in order to deceive. Had your Lord willed, they would not have done so. So leave them and what they fabricate. * And so that the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter may incline to it, be pleased with it, and commit whatever they commit.”
[al-An'ām: 112–113].
There are other similar passages; this is a broad subject in Allah’s Book.
Our purpose is to draw believers’ attention to the condition of such disbelievers as described in Allah’s Book. Our aim here, however, is to defend the messengers against them.
One who strives against the disbelievers and hypocrites does not argue against them on the authority of messengers whom they reject. But someone who believes in the messengers benefits from this by recognizing that people of this kind are deniers of the messengers.
As for refuting them, we have several approaches:
First: To demonstrate the unsoundness of the rational arguments they claim contradict the Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
Second: To demonstrate that what the Messenger brought is known self-evidently to be part of his religion, or is established by conclusive proofs. Once this is established, it is impossible to affirm the Messenger’s truthfulness while opposing it. This benefits everyone who believes in the Messenger.
