accept guidance, to the point that his Lord would console and comfort him, as in His words, Most High:
“Even if you are eager for their guidance, Allah does not guide those He causes to stray.”
[Al-Nahl: 37].
And He, Most High, says:
“Indeed, you do not guide whom you love, but Allah guides whom He wills.”
[Al-Qasas: 56].
And He, Most High, says:
“Perhaps you would destroy yourself with grief because they will not become believers.”
[Al-Shuʿarāʾ: 3].
And He, Most High, says:
“If their turning away weighs heavily upon you, then if you can seek a tunnel into the earth or a stairway into the sky to bring them a sign, [then do so]. Had Allah willed, He would have brought them all together upon guidance. So do not be among the ignorant.”
[Al-Anʿām: 35].
Then He, glorified and exalted, commanded him to convey the message clearly. He, Most High, says:
“Say, ‘Obey Allah and obey the Messenger.’ But if you turn away, he is responsible only for what he has been charged with, and you are responsible for what you have been charged with. If you obey him, you will be guided. The Messenger’s duty is only to convey the message clearly.”
[Al-Nūr: 54].
And He, Most High, says:
“Obey Allah and obey the Messenger, and beware. But if you turn away, then know that Our Messenger’s duty is only to convey the message clearly.”
[Al-Māʾidah: 92].
And He, Most High, says:
“Those who associate partners with Allah say, ‘Had Allah willed, neither we nor our forefathers would have worshipped anything besides Him, nor would we have forbidden anything without His authority.’ Those before them did likewise. Are the messengers responsible for anything other than conveying the message clearly?”
[Al-Nahl: 35].
