Allah knows best where to place His message.” [al-An‘ām: 124]
And Allah Most High says:
“When their messengers came to them with clear proofs, they rejoiced in the knowledge they possessed, and what they used to mock engulfed them. * When they saw Our punishment, they said, ‘We believe in Allah alone and renounce what we used to associate with Him.’ * But their faith did not benefit them once they had seen Our punishment.” [Ghāfir: 82-85]
Whoever opposes what the messengers brought with his own opinion falls, to some extent, under the words of Allah Most High:
“Thus Allah leaves astray whoever transgresses and doubts.” [Ghāfir: 34]
And His words:
“Those who dispute concerning Allah’s signs without any authority having come to them—great is the abhorrence of this in the sight of Allah and those who believe. Thus Allah seals the heart of every arrogant tyrant.” [Ghāfir: 35]
And His words:
“Those who dispute concerning Allah’s signs without any authority having come to them have nothing in their hearts but a pride they will never satisfy.” [Ghāfir: 56]
The authority meant here is the Book sent down from heaven. Thus, anyone who opposes Allah’s revealed Book with anything other than a Book from Allah that may abrogate or explain it has disputed concerning Allah’s signs without any authority having come to him.
Among the passages addressing this are the words of Allah Most High:
“They disputed with falsehood in order to refute the truth thereby, so I seized them. How, then, was My punishment!” [Ghāfir: 5]
And His words:
“We send the messengers only as bearers of good tidings and warners. Yet those who disbelieve dispute with falsehood in order to refute the truth thereby, and they take My signs and the warnings they received in mockery.” [al-Kahf: 56]
There are other similar passages in the Book of Allah Most High condemning those who opposed Allah’s messengers and His Books with their own opinions and arguments.
