Darʾ Taʿâroud al-ʿAql wa-n-NaqlIbn Taimiya

which is authentic:

“Allah says, ‘My servant, I was hungry, yet you did not feed Me.’ The servant replies, ‘Lord, how could I feed You when You are the Lord of all worlds?’ He says, ‘Did you not know that My servant so-and-so was hungry? Had you fed him, you would have found that with Me.

‘My servant, I was thirsty, yet you did not give Me anything to drink.’ The servant replies, ‘How could I give You anything to drink when You are the Lord of all worlds?’ He says, ‘Did you not know that My servant so-and-so was thirsty? Had you given him something to drink, you would have found that with Me.

‘My servant, I was ill, yet you did not visit Me.’ The servant replies, ‘How could I visit You when You are the Lord of all worlds?’ He says, ‘Did you not know that My servant so-and-so was ill? Had you visited him, you would have found Me with him.’”

Thus, the Messenger accompanied this hadith with an explanation and clarified its meaning. Nothing in its apparent meaning remains that indicates anything false. It requires neither opposition based on reason nor reinterpretation that diverts it from its apparent meaning to a hidden meaning without scriptural evidence.

As for claiming that the words of Allah and His Messenger contain passages whose apparent meaning is unbelief and heresy, without any clarification from Allah and His Messenger to dispel the falsehood and explain the intended meaning—this is what the enemies of the messengers say: the disbelievers among the polytheists and the People of the Book. Such a thing is never found in Allah’s words.

This is clarified in:
