Darʾ Taʿâroud al-ʿAql wa-n-NaqlIbn Taimiya

And the term (wurūd, “coming to it”) can mean either crossing over it or entering it. Moreover, coming to it and entering it may refer to coming to its upper part. It is established in an authentic hadith:

“When they cross the Bridge, some will pass in the blink of an eye, some like the wind, and some like the finest horses.”

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, explained coming to it in this way, and this applies to all creation. Thus, when Hafsah said, “Does Allah not say, ‘There is none of you who will not come to it’ [Maryam: 71]?” this was not a valid objection to what he had stated. After rebuking her, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, explained to her that Allah said:

“Then We will save those who feared Allah.” [Maryam: 72]

That deliverance is what he meant when he said: “No one who pledged allegiance beneath the tree will enter the Fire.”

If it is objected: But ‘Ā’ishah opposed what ‘Umar and others narrated from the Prophet, may Allah’s blessings
