as Allah Most High says in another verse:
“Whatever you disagree about, its judgment rests with Allah.”
[al-Shūrā: 10]
Allah Most High also says:
“Mankind was one community. Then Allah sent the prophets as bearers of good tidings and warnings, and sent down with them the Book in truth, to judge between people concerning their differences.”
[al-Baqarah: 213]
His statement:
“when it is He who has sent down to you the Book explained in detail”
[al-An‘ām: 114]
is a circumstantial clause. His statement:
“Should I seek a judge other than Allah?”
[al-An‘ām: 114]
is a rhetorical question expressing disapproval. He is saying: How could I seek a judge other than Allah when He has sent down the Book, explained in detail, to judge between us?
The expression “explained in detail” shows that the Book which judges is detailed and clear. This contradicts the claims of those who oppose it with men’s opinions and say that its meaning cannot be understood and that it does not address the point in dispute. They thus treat it either as indeterminate, with no apparent meaning, or as a text subjected to interpretation whose precise meaning is unknown and which does not indicate the precise meaning intended by it.
Thus, those who turn away from the scriptural texts and oppose them are virtually agreed that the precise intended meaning is unknown. All they do is mention numerous possible interpretations and say, “Any one of these could be intended.”
This is why some of them have refrained from interpretation: they do not know the precise intended meaning.
