will make you realize?” This dispels the confusion of those who did not understand the verse and therefore thought that anna (“that”) meant la‘alla (“perhaps”), because they imagined that His words, “And We turn,” introduced an independent statement. The passage continues through to His words:
“And thus We have made for every prophet an enemy—devils from humankind and jinn, inspiring one another with embellished speech to deceive. Had your Lord willed, they would not have done so. So leave them and what they fabricate * And so that the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter may incline towards it, be pleased with it, and commit whatever they commit * Shall I seek a judge other than Allah, when it is He who has sent down to you the Book, fully explained? Those to whom We have given the Scripture know that it has been sent down from your Lord in truth, so do not be among those who doubt * The word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and justice. None can alter His words, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.”
