as Allah, the Most High, says:

“Have you not seen that Allah sends down water from the sky, and We bring forth thereby fruits of varying colours? And in the mountains are streaks, white and red, of varying colours, and others jet-black. * People, beasts, and livestock likewise vary in colour. Only those of His servants who have knowledge fear Allah.” Fātir 27–28.

And the Most High says:

“He brings the living out of the dead and brings the dead out of the living.” Al-Rūm 19.

And the Most High says:

“It is He who sends down water from the sky, and We bring forth thereby the growth of all things. From it We bring forth green shoots, from which We produce grain piled in layers.” The verse, al-Anʿām 99.

And He says:

“We made from water every living thing.” Al-Anbiyāʾ 30.

And He says:

“Allah is the One who created the heavens and the earth and sent down water from the sky, bringing forth thereby fruits as provision for you. He subjected ships to you, to sail through the sea by His command, and subjected rivers to you. * And He subjected the sun and the moon to you.” Ibrāhīm 32–33.

Thus, we observe fruit emerging from wood; wood is not of the same nature as fresh dates, grapes, or pomegranates. When the fruit is first brought forth, it is green, then turns yellow, then red: its colours change, and it grows larger after being small.

We see the different colours Allah creates in animals, plants, and other things—black, red, yellow, and white. We distinguish between their differences in colour, movement, and taste—sweetness, sourness, and so forth—and their differences through growth and nourishment, their becoming large after being small, and the emergence of an ear of grain from a seed,
