they say: ‘There is nothing among all things like Him. He is beneath the seventh earth just as He is above the Throne. No place is devoid of Him, and He is not in one place to the exclusion of another. He has never spoken and does not speak. No one looks upon Him, either in this world or in the Hereafter. He is not described, nor is He known by any attribute. He cannot be conceived; there is no limit, nor does He have a limit or an endpoint. He cannot be apprehended by reason. He is entirely face, entirely knowledge, entirely hearing, entirely sight, entirely light, and entirely power. He cannot be two different things (in one copy: “He is not described by two different attributes”). He has no top or bottom, no regions or sides, no right or left. He is neither heavy nor light. He has neither colour nor body, and He cannot be conceived. And whatever occurs to your mind—that He is
