Darʾ Taʿâroud al-ʿAql wa-n-NaqlIbn Taimiya

Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, came in the finest and most perfect form that revealed laws could take. Thus it was fitting for it to be the final revealed law and the last religion.

He said:

“And where is any indication of the subtle meanings pertaining to the science of monotheism: whether He knows by virtue of His essence or through knowledge; is powerful by virtue of His essence or through power; is one in essence despite His many attributes, or admits of multiplicity, from which He is exalted in some respect; whether His essence is spatially confined or transcends spatial directions?

“For the possibilities concerning the obligation to reflect upon these matters are limited. If inquiry into them is excused, and mistaken beliefs concerning them incur no blame, then most of the doctrine of these people addressed by this statement is needless elaboration and can be dispensed with. But if it is a firmly established obligation, then it must be explicitly stated in the revealed law—not in language that obscures, confuses, or is confined
