for he said:
“As for those who affirm the attributes, some of them have followed a weak method of establishing them: they sought first to establish what the attributes entail, then proceeded from this to establish knowledge of the attributes themselves at a second stage. 0 They reasoned as follows: the world undoubtedly displays the utmost wisdom and precision, yet both its existence and its nonexistence are possible, as will be explained. Moreover, its particular determination and its coming into existence depend on the Necessary Existent, as will also be explained. The Necessary Existent must therefore have power over it, will it, and know it, as induction from the observable world has shown. For nothing can proceed from one who has no power. If one has no will, there is no greater reason for certain possibilities rather than others to be selected by him than for the reverse, since they all stand in the same relation to him. And one who has no knowledge of a thing cannot conceivably intend to bring it into existence.
