This would be the case even if their claim were rationally sound. How much more so, then, when it is rationally unsound, as we have explained at length elsewhere? The purpose here is to show that the prophetic texts contain only what contradicts their position, not what supports it.
[The Term “Equal”]
The same applies to the term “equal.” Hassān ibn Thābit said:
“Do you satirize him, though you are no equal of his?
May the worse of you be a ransom for the better.”
He thus denied that the other man was Muhammad’s equal, although both were growing bodies endowed with sensation, voluntary movement, and reason. Yet since the divine texts indicate that the Lord has no equal in anything, that nothing is like Him in any respect, and that He has no peer in any respect, it is known that nothing is like Him in any attribute, any act, or any right. This does not negate His possessing the attributes of perfection.
Thus, if it is said that He is living, and that no living being is like Him in any respect; that He is All-Knowing, All-Powerful, All-Hearing, and All-Seeing, and that no one who knows, has power, hears, or sees is like Him in any respect, then what revelation indicates agrees with what reason indicates: nothing is like Him in any respect.
