Allah Most High also says:
“If an evil suggestion from Satan comes to you, seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.”
Fussilat 36.
In the two Sahīh collections, Sulaymān ibn Surad reported that two men exchanged insults in the presence of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. One of them became angry, and his face began to redden. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
“I know words which, if he said them, would dispel this from him: ‘I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the accursed.’”
Thus Allah Most High commanded the servant to seek refuge from Satan when reciting and when angry, so that He may ward off Satan’s evil from him. When a cause of good is present—namely, recitation—this wards off whatever obstructs that good; and when a cause of evil is present, it prevents the cause that Satan brings about at that time.
It is established that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
“There is no heart among the hearts of the servants except that it is between two fingers of the Most Merciful. If He wills to set it straight, He sets it straight; and if He wills to cause it to deviate, He causes it to deviate.”
