Nor did he say:
“Allah descends to the earth every night.”
Rather, he said:
“He descends to the lowest heaven.”
Scholars familiar with his life know with immediate certainty that such alleged statements, and others like them, were never made. If anyone reports them from him or attempts to prove that he said them, they immediately recognize the falsehood of that person’s claim, just as they recognize the falsehood of the sophists’ assertions, even without undertaking to refute their specious arguments.
Thus, anyone who argues in this manner, or conveys to the Muslim community assertions like those of the deniers of the attributes, would be known to be lying with even greater immediate certainty than someone who attributed to him these things that are untrue of him, and many times more besides. This is known to anyone with even the slightest familiarity with the lives of the messengers, let alone those with an intermediate degree of knowledge, and still more those who inherit his legacy and know his words and deeds.
