Now, since a friend of Allah is the one who aligns himself with what Allah loves and approves of, and with what He hates and disapproves of, and with what He commands and forbids, anyone who opposes such a friend is in fact opposing Allah Himself. The Exalted has said:
“Do not take My enemy and your enemy as allies, extending love to them.” (Q 60:1)
Whoever shows enmity toward Allah’s friends has shown enmity toward Him, and whoever opposes Him, He will confront with war. For that reason He said in the sacred ḥadīth:
“Whoever shows enmity to a friend of Mine has declared war on Me.”
[The Foremost of Allah’s Friends]
The foremost friends of Allah are His prophets; the foremost among the prophets are the messengers; and the foremost among the messengers are the possessors of firm resolve (ulū l-ʿazm): Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
The Exalted says:
“He has ordained for you in religion what He enjoined upon Noah, what We have revealed to you, and what We enjoined upon Abraham, Moses, and Jesus: establish the religion and do not be divided therein.” (Q 42:13)
And He says:
“[Remember] when We took from the prophets their covenant—and from you, and from Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus son of Mary—and We took from them a solemn covenant, so that He might question the truthful about their truthfulness, and He has prepared for the disbelievers a painful punishment.” (Q 33:7–8)
