—the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him?”

One of them said, “As for me, I will fast continually and never break my fast.”
Another said, “As for me, I will spend the whole night in prayer and never sleep.”
Another said, “As for me, I will not eat meat.”
And another said, “As for me, I will never marry women.”

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

“What is wrong with people who say such-and-such? By Allah, I fast and I break the fast, I stand in prayer and I sleep, I eat meat, and I marry women. Whoever turns away from my sunnah is not of me.”

That is, whoever adopts any other path, thinking it superior to his, is repudiated by Allah and His Messenger.

Allah the Exalted says:

‘And who would turn away from the way of Abraham except one who makes a fool of himself?’ [Quran 2:130]

Thus every Muslim must believe that the best speech is the speech of Allah, and the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, just as is authentically reported that he would declare this in every Friday sermon.
