deem them self-sufficient because of their restraint; you will recognize them by their appearance—they do not press people with importunate requests.”
As for the second category—who are the superior of the two—the Almighty says:
“[And a share is also] for the poor Emigrants who were driven from their homes and their wealth, seeking the bounty and pleasure of Allah and supporting Allah and His Messenger; it is they who are the truthful.” (Q 59:8)
This is the description of those Emigrants who abandoned every sin and strove, both inwardly and outwardly, against the enemies of Allah, just as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
“The believer is the one whom people trust regarding their lives and their property,”
and,
“The Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe, and the emigrant is the one who abandons what Allah has forbidden,”
and,
“The warrior in Allah’s cause is the one who strives against his own soul for Allah’s sake.”
