[The Qualities of Allah’s Allies]
A section on the qualities of the allies of Allah

Once it is understood that within humankind there exist both the allies of the All-Merciful and the allies of Satan, it becomes obligatory to distinguish between the two, just as Allah and His Messenger have distinguished them. The allies of Allah are the believers who are mindful of Him, as He, exalted, says:

“Unquestionably, the allies of Allah shall have no fear, nor shall they grieve—those who believed and were God-fearing.”

[Faith and God-Fearingness]
In the sound hadith related by al-Bukhari and others from Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

“Allah, exalted be He, says: ‘Whoever shows enmity to an ally of Mine, I declare war upon him’—or, in another wording, ‘I have indeed announced war against him.’ ‘My servant does not draw near to Me with anything more beloved to Me than the obligations I have enjoined upon him, and My servant continues to draw near to Me through supererogatory deeds until I love him. When I love him, I become his hearing with which he hears, his sight with which he sees, his hand with which he grasps, and his foot with which he walks.’

—In another narration: ‘By Me he hears, by Me he sees, by Me he strikes, and by Me he walks.’—

‘Were he to ask of Me, I would surely give him; and were he to seek My protection, I would surely protect him; and I do not hesitate about anything I—’”}
