And in the Ṣaḥīḥ collections it is reported that the Prophet ﷺ said:

“Do not sit on graves, and do not pray facing them.”

Al-Muwaṭṭaʾ relates that he ﷺ said:

“O Allah, do not let my grave become an idol that is worshipped. Allah’s anger is most severe against a people who turn the graves of their prophets into places of worship.”

In the Sunan collections he ﷺ said:

“Do not turn my grave into a festival. Send blessings upon me wherever you are, for your blessings are conveyed to me.”

He ﷺ also said:

“No one greets me with peace except that Allah restores my soul to me so that I may return his greeting.”
