al-Ashraf, he stumbled, broke his leg, and the Prophet wiped over it and it was instantly healed. From a single roasted sheep he fed one hundred and thirty men, giving each of them a slice; then he set aside what remained in two bowls, they all ate from them, and yet food was still left over.
He also settled the debt of ʿAbd Allah, Jabir’s father, to a Jew—thirty wasqs of dates.
Jabir said, “The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, told the creditor to take all the dates in payment, but he refused. The Prophet then walked among the date-piles and said to me, ‘Cut for him.’ I paid him the full thirty wasqs, and seventeen wasqs remained.” Incidents like this are many; I have collected nearly a thousand miracles.
Karamāt of the Companions and the Followers
The extraordinary signs granted to the Companions, the Followers after them, and all the righteous are exceedingly numerous. For example, when Usayd ibn Ḥuḍayr was reciting Sūrat al-Kahf, a cloud-like canopy descended from the sky containing lights like lamps; these were the angels who had come down in response to his recitation. Angels used to greet ʿImrān ibn Ḥuṣayn. On another occasion Salman and Abū al-Dardāʾ were eating from a dish when it glorified Allah.
