the name of your Lord, the Most Sublime.
The Exalted also said:
“So remind—for by the favor of your Lord you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman… up to His saying, ‘if they are truthful.’”
Thus Allah, glorified be He, vindicated our Prophet Muhammad—peace and blessings be upon him—from any affinity with the devils who attach themselves to soothsayers, poets, and lunatics, and He clarified that the one who brought him the Qur’an is an honored angel whom He has chosen.
He, the Most High, said:
“Allah selects messengers from the angels and from humankind.”
And He said:
“Indeed, it is a revelation from the Lord of all worlds, brought down by the Trustworthy Spirit upon your heart so that you may be one of the warners, in a clear Arabic tongue.”
And He said:
“Say: ‘Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel—it is he who has brought it down upon your heart, by Allah’s permission…’”
And He said:
“When you recite the Qur’an, seek refuge with Allah from the accursed devil… and a glad tiding for the Muslims,” naming Gabriel “the Trustworthy Spirit” and “the Holy Spirit.”
And He said:
“No indeed! I swear by the retreating stars, the running, the disappearing…”—that is, the heavenly bodies which are concealed before they rise; when they appear people see them coursing through the sky, and when they set they withdraw to their hidden chambers—
“and by the night as it draws to a close,” meaning when it recedes and dawn approaches,
“and by the morning as it breathes,” that is, when it breaks forth.
