In the first pattern, remembrance travels from his tongue to his heart.
In the second, it moves from his heart to his tongue; yet his heart is never void of it. Rather, he first grows still until he senses the emergence of the inner speaker; once he feels that, his heart begins to speak, and the heart-born speech then passes to verbal remembrance. He remains absorbed in it until he perceives every part of himself engaged in remembrance.
The best and most beneficial remembrance is that in which heart and tongue are in harmony, is drawn from the prophetic invocations, and whose meanings and aims the worshipper contemplates.

The most helpful person to you is the one who grants you access to himself so that you may sow good within him or perform a kindness for him; such a man is an excellent aid to your own benefit and perfection. In truth, your gain from him equals—if not exceeds—his gain from you.
The most harmful person to you is the one who yields himself to you in a way that leads you to disobey Allah concerning him; he becomes an accomplice in your harm and deficiency.
