His teachers: he studied under Shaykh Abū al-ʿAbbās Aḥmad ibn ʿUmar al-Qurṭubī, from whom he heard portions of the latter’s commentary al-Mufhim limā Ashkala min Talkhīṣ Kitāb Muslim. He also related ḥadīth from the ḥāfiẓ Abū ʿAlī al-Ḥasan ibn Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad al-Bakrī, and likewise from the ḥāfiẓ Abū al-Ḥasan ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī ibn Ḥafṣ al-Yaḥṣabī, among others. He had taken up residence in Minyat Ibn Khuṣayb, where he died and was laid to rest on the night of Monday, the ninth of Shawwāl, 671 AH. May Allah have mercy on him and be well pleased with him.
