Foreword by the General Supervisor of the Project “The Works of the Eminent Scholar Shaykh Muḥammad al-Amīn al-Shanqīṭī”
His Eminence, the distinguished scholar Shaykh Bakr ibn ʿAbd Allāh Abū Zayd—may Allah preserve him—President of the Islamic Fiqh Academy, Jeddah
All praise belongs to Allah for His countless favors and ever-renewed blessings. O Allah, send Your prayers upon Your servant and Messenger Muḥammad, upon his family and all his Companions, and bestow peace upon them.
To proceed: this is a new installment in the series of blessed scholarly undertakings—Allah willing—that we began with:
– The Works of Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah, together with related studies; thirteen volumes have been printed and the rest are in preparation.
– Then followed The Works of Imām Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah and their related studies; eight volumes have appeared in print, and the same number will be published soon. Work on both projects continues.
– The present publication is the third in that series: The Works of our virtuous teacher, the eminent jurist, uṣūlī, exegete, and independent scholar Muḥammad al-Amīn ibn Muḥammad al-Mukhtār al-Jaknī al-Shanqīṭī, later of Madinah, born in 1325 AH—most likely—and who died in 1393 AH—may Allah have mercy on him.
Printing of the Shaykh’s writings—may Allah rest him in mercy—began during his lifetime, whether from works he himself composed or from lecture notes compiled by his students. Some volumes appeared after his death, some have only recently come to press, and others remain unpublished to this day—among them al-Riḥlah (The Journey)
