Humayd ibn Hilāl, who said: I heard Mutarrif say that ‘Imrān ibn Husayn said:
“I shall relate a hadith to you through which Allah may benefit you: the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, combined Hajj and ‘umrah, and never forbade this before his death, nor was any Quranic revelation sent down prohibiting it.”
The eleventh is what Yahyā ibn Sa‘īd al-Qattān and Sufyān ibn ‘Uyaynah related from Ismā‘īl ibn Abī Khālid, from ‘Abd Allāh ibn Abī Qatādah, from his father, who said: “The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, combined Hajj and ‘umrah only because he knew that he would not perform Hajj again thereafter (1).” There are sound chains of transmission leading to both of them.
The twelfth is what Imam Ahmad related (2) from Surāqah ibn Mālik, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say, “‘Umrah has become part of Hajj until the Day of Resurrection.” He added: “The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, combined Hajj and ‘umrah during the Farewell Pilgrimage.” The narrators in its chain of transmission are trustworthy.
The thirteenth is what Imam Ahmad and Ibn Mājah related (3) from Abū Talhah al-Ansārī: that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, combined Hajj and ‘umrah. Ibn Mājah also related it (4), and its chain of transmission includes al-Hajjāj ibn Artāh.
