al-Ji‘rānah; ‘Ā’ishah meant the two separately performed ‘umrahs, the ‘umrah combined with Hajj, and the one from which he was prevented. There is no doubt that these were four.
The fifth is what was related (1) by Sufyān al-Thawrī, from Ja‘far ibn Muhammad, from his father (2), from Jābir ibn ‘Abdullāh: the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, performed Hajj three times: [twice] (3) before he migrated, and once after he migrated, combining it with ‘umrah. This was related by al-Tirmidhī and others (4).
The sixth is what was narrated (5) by Abū Dāwūd (6) from al-Nufaylī and Qutaybah, who both said: Dāwūd ibn ‘Abd al-Rahmān al-‘Attār narrated to us, from ‘Amr ibn Dīnār, from ‘Ikrimah, from Ibn ‘Abbās, who said: the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, performed four ‘umrahs: the ‘umrah of al-Hudaybiyah; the second, when they agreed that he would perform ‘umrah the following year; the third (7), from al-Ji‘rānah; and the fourth, which he combined with his Hajj.
The seventh is what al-Bukhārī related in his Sahīh (8) from ‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say in the valley of al-‘Aqīq:
“Someone came to me tonight from my Lord, Mighty and Majestic, and said: ‘Pray in this blessed valley, and say: An ‘umrah combined with Hajj.’”
