Zād al-MaʿādIbn al-Qayyim

He would pass his right hand over the sick person and say: “O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the affliction. Grant healing, for You are the Healer. There is no healing but Your healing—a healing that leaves no illness behind” (1).

He would also say: “Wipe away the affliction, Lord of mankind. Healing is in Your hand; none can remove it but You” (2).

He would supplicate for the sick person three times, as he said to Saʿd: “O Allah, heal Saʿd. O Allah, heal Saʿd. O Allah, heal Saʿd” (3).

When he visited a sick person, he would say: “Do not worry; it is a purification, if Allah wills” (4). Sometimes he would say: “An expiation and a purification” (5).
