Thursday (1). He prayed to Allah to bless his community in their early mornings (2). Whenever he dispatched a detachment or an army, he sent them out at the beginning of the day (3). He instructed travellers, when there were three of them, to appoint one of their number as their leader (4).
He forbade a man to travel alone (5). He stated that a lone rider is a devil,

(2) Reported by Ahmad (15438), al-Bukhārī in al-Tārīkh al-Kabīr (4/310), Abū Dāwūd (2606), al-Tirmidhī (1212), al-Nasā’ī in al-Kubrā (8782), Ibn Mājah (2236), and Ibn Hibbān (4754, 4755), through ‘Umārah ibn Hadīd from Sakhr al-Ghāmidī. Abū Hātim graded it weak in al-‘Ilal (2300/أ) because ‘Umārah was unknown, saying: “I know of no authentic hadith containing ‘O Allah, bless my community in its early mornings.’” After discussing the hadith’s transmission routes and its weakness, al-Dhahabī stated in al-Mīzān (3/175): “On this subject, there is a report from Anas with a wholly unsound chain; one from Buraydah through Aws ibn ‘Abd Allāh, who is somewhat weak; and one from Ibn ‘Abbās through two routes, neither of which is authentic.” Nevertheless, al-Albānī graded it authentic on the combined strength of its transmission routes and corroborating reports in Sahīh Abī Dāwūd—al-Umm (7/360).
(3) Part of the preceding hadith.
(4) Reported by Abū Dāwūd (2608), Abū Ya‘lā (1054, 1359), Abū ‘Awānah (7538), al-Tabarānī in al-Awsat (8093, 8094), al-Bayhaqī (5/257), and Ibn ‘Abd al-Barr in al-Tamhīd (20/7), through Hātim ibn Ismā‘īl, from Muhammad ibn ‘Ajlān, from Nāfi‘, from Abū Salamah, from Abū Sa‘īd al-Khudrī, as a marfū‘ report (attributed to the Prophet). It was also reported by Abū Dāwūd (2609), Abū ‘Awānah (7539), and al-Bayhaqī (5/257), through Hātim with the same chain, from Abū Hurayrah, likewise as a marfū‘ report. There is disagreement over whether its chain is connected or mursal (disconnected). Abū Hātim, Abū Zur‘ah, and al-Dāraqutnī favored the mursal version. For details, see ‘Ilal al-Hadīth by Ibn Abī Hātim (225) and ‘Ilal al-Dāraqutnī (1795). Nevertheless, al-Albānī graded it authentic in Sahīh Abī Dāwūd—al-Umm (7/363–365).
(5) Reported by al-Bukhārī (2998) from ‘Abd Allāh ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both).

ونهى أن يسافر الرجل وحده (٥). وأخبر أنَّ الراكب شيطان،
