Ahmad (1) also relates from ‘Alī that he prostrated when he found Dhū al-Thudayya among the slain Khawārij.
Sa‘īd ibn Mansūr (2) relates that Abū Bakr al-Siddīq prostrated when news reached him that Musaylima had been killed.

His Practice Regarding Prostration upon Reciting the Quran
Whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to a verse of prostration, he would proclaim Allah’s greatness and prostrate. Sometimes he would say during his prostration: “My face has prostrated before the One who created it and endowed it with hearing and sight by His power and might” (3). At other times he would say: “O Allah,
(1) Nos. 848 and 1255. Also transmitted by al-Bazzār (3/111) and al-Nasā’ī in al-Kubrā (8513), through Tāriq ibn Ziyād al-Kūfī, from ‘Alī. Tāriq is unknown. Other chains from ‘Alī are recorded by ‘Abd al-Razzāq (5962), Ibn Abī Shayba (8502, 8503, 8508, 8510), and al-Hākim (2/154). Taken together, these chains establish the report as authentic. See al-Irwā’ (2/230–231).
(2) Also transmitted by ‘Abd al-Razzāq (5963)—and through him by Ibn al-Mundhir in al-Awsat (5/297)—and Ibn Abī Shayba (33511), from Abū ‘Awn al-Thaqafī, who said: “Abū Bakr prostrated when news of the conquest of al-Yamāma reached him.” The report is mursal (disconnected), since Abū ‘Awn did not live to meet Abū Bakr. Ibn Abī Shayba (8499) and al-Bayhaqī (2/371) also transmitted it from Abū ‘Awn, from an unnamed man, who related that Abū Bakr …, etc.
(3) Transmitted by Ibn Abī Shayba (4405), Ishāq ibn Rāhawayh (1679), Ahmad (24022), al-Tirmidhī (580, 3425), al-Nasā’ī in al-Mujtabā (1129) and al-Kubrā (718), al-Hākim (1/220), and al-Bayhaqī (2/325), through several chains from Khālid, from Abū al-‘Āliya, from ‘Ā’isha. Ibn Abī Shayba (4407) and Ahmad (25821) transmitted it through Ismā‘īl, from Khālid, from a man, from Abū al-‘Āliya, from ‘Ā’isha. This is the version preferred by al-Dāraqutnī in al-‘Ilal (3750). The chain is therefore weak because the man between Khālid and Abū al-‘Āliya is unknown. See Tahdhīb al-Tahdhīb (3/121–122).
