- Abridgements, translations, and studies of the book
Some scholars abridged the book, selected chapters and sections from it as separate works, reworked some of its discussions, or rendered it in verse. Others translated it into other languages. The following is a list of those we have located:
1 - “Mukhtasar Hady al-Nabī” (Abridgement of the Prophet’s Guidance, peace and blessings be upon him), abridged by Shams al-Dīn Ibn al-Naqqāsh (d. 763 AH). A manuscript is held at the Egyptian National Library [229 m Majāmī‘]; it is incomplete and contains gaps.
2 - “Safar al-Sa‘āda”, by Majd al-Dīn al-Fayrūzābādī (d. 817 AH). In it, he abridged Ibn al-Qayyim’s discussion in “Zād al-Ma‘ād” without acknowledging his source, following his customary practice of abridging earlier books in his own works. This is not the place to discuss the matter in detail. The book has appeared in numerous editions.
3 - “Mukhtasar al-Hady al-Nabawī”, by al-Husayn ibn Ahmad, known as Zubāra al-San‘ānī (d. 1141 AH). It is mentioned in “Nashr al-‘Urf” (1/524) and “Mu‘jam al-Mu’allifīn” (3/311).
