after it, two rak‘ahs after the sunset prayer, two rak‘ahs after the night prayer, and two rak‘ahs before the dawn prayer.” Al-Nasā’ī gives “and two rak‘ahs before the afternoon prayer” in place of “two rak‘ahs after the night prayer.” Al-Tirmidhī graded the report authentic.

Ibn Mājah (1) also reports from ‘Ā’ishah, who attributed it to the Prophet:

“Whoever consistently observes twelve rak‘ahs of Sunnah prayer will have a house built for him in Paradise: four (2) before the noon prayer, two rak‘ahs after the noon prayer (3), two rak‘ahs after the sunset prayer (4), two rak‘ahs after the night prayer, and two rak‘ahs before

(1) No. (1140). Also reported by al-Tirmidhī (414) and al-Nasā’ī in al-Mujtabā (The Selected Collection) (1794, 1795) and al-Kubrā (The Major Collection) (1471). Its transmission routes all pass through al-Mughīrah ibn Ziyād, who has some weakness as a narrator. Al-Tirmidhī graded the hadith weak. Ahmad said in al-‘Ilal (Hadith Defects), as transmitted by his son ‘Abd Allāh (4012): “Every hadith that Mughīrah ibn Ziyād attributes to the Prophet is munkar (rejected).” See also (835) in the same work. After reporting it in al-Kubrā (1471), al-Nasā’ī said: “This is an error (meaning the mention of ‘Ā’ishah); perhaps he meant ‘Anbasah ibn Abī Sufyān but misread the name.” (2) ك, ع: “arba‘an (four).” (3) “And two rak‘ahs after the noon prayer” is omitted from ص here and in the following hadith. (4) “And two rak‘ahs after the sunset prayer” is omitted from ك, ع, but supplied in the margin of ك.
