Then he would turn to face the congregation (1), without favoring one side over the other.
After performing the dawn prayer, he would remain seated where he had prayed until the sun had fully risen (2).
After every obligatory prayer, he would say: “There is no god but Allah alone, without partner. His is the dominion, and His is all praise, and He has power over all things. O Allah, none can withhold what You give, and none can give what You withhold; nor can worldly fortune avail its possessor before You” (3).
He would also say: “There is no god but Allah alone, without partner. His is the dominion, and His is all praise, and He has power over all things. There is no might or power except through Allah. There is no god but Allah, and we worship none but Him. To Him belong all blessings, all bounty, and all excellent praise. There is no god but Allah, and we are sincere in our devotion to Him, even though the disbelievers detest it” (4).
Abū Dāwūd (5) reported from ‘Alī ibn Abī Tālib that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the salām at the end of prayer, he would say: “O Allah, forgive my past and future sins, what I have concealed and what I have made public, my excesses, and what You know better than I do. You are the One who brings forward and the One who holds back. There is no god but You.”
