If he performs ablution and prays, his prayer will be accepted.” This was recorded by al-Bukhārī (2).

Ibn ‘Abbās related that, on the night he stayed with the Prophet ﷺ, when the Prophet awoke, he raised his head towards the sky and recited the final ten verses of Surah Āl ‘Imrān, from “Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth…” to the end of the surah [190 - 200] (3).

You are the Sustainer (4) of the heavens and the earth and all who are in them. To You belongs all praise. You are the Truth; Your promise is true; Your word is true; meeting You is true; Paradise is true; Hell is true; the prophets are true; Muhammad is true; and the Hour is true. So forgive me for what I have done before and what I have done since, what I have concealed and what I have made public. You are my God; there is no god but You, and there is no

(3) Recorded by al-Bukhārī (4569) and Muslim (256), both with the wording “he looked towards the sky.” The wording “he raised his head” occurs in al-Tahāwī’s Sharh Mushkil al-Āthār (Explanation of Problematic Reports), no. 13. Shu‘ayb al-Arna’ūt comments in his critical edition: “Authentic according to Muslim’s criteria.”
