and slaughter them (1).
It has already been mentioned that he slaughtered at Minā and said: “All the passes of Mecca are places of sacrifice” (2). Ibn Abbās said: “The places for slaughtering sacrificial camels are in Mecca, but it has been kept free of blood, and Minā is part of Mecca.” Ibn Abbās used to slaughter in Mecca (3).
He permitted his community to eat from their pilgrimage offerings and Eid sacrifices and take provisions from them (4). On one occasion, he forbade them to store any of the meat beyond three days because a group of people had come (5) to them that year, and he wanted them to provide generously for these newcomers (6). Abū Dāwūd (7) cited a report from Jubayr ibn Nufayr, from Thawbān, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) offered a sacrifice, then said: “Thawbān, prepare the meat of this sheep for us.” He said: “I continued serving him some of it until he arrived in Medina.”
Muslim (8) also related this account, with the following wording: During the Farewell Pilgrimage, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said to him: “Prepare this meat.” He said: “I prepared it, and he continued eating from it until he reached Medina.”
