him to break his fast, and it has become the time for him to do so. The same applies to the one who has (1) circumambulated the House: either he has come out of ihram in legal effect, or that time is no longer a time of ihram for him, but solely a time of release from it—unless he has sacrificial animals with him. He based this on the Prophet’s command, peace and blessings be upon him, when he instructed them to come out of ihram during the Farewell Pilgrimage.
In Sahīh Muslim (3), Ibn ‘Abbās reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
“This is an Umrah of which we have availed ourselves. Whoever has no sacrificial animals with him should come out of ihram completely, for Umrah has become part of Hajj until the Day of Resurrection.”
‘Abd al-Razzāq said (4): Ma‘mar narrated to us, from Qatādah, from Abū al-Sha‘thā’, from Ibn ‘Abbās, who said, “Whoever arrives having entered ihram for Hajj, circumambulating the House turns it into Umrah, whether he wishes it or not.” I said, “People object to what you say.” He replied, “It is the Sunnah of their Prophet (5), however much they dislike it.”
Those we have named, along with others, narrated this from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Groups of leading Successors transmitted it from them, until it came to be transmitted in a manner that dispels doubt and establishes certainty,
