As for those who say that he performed Hajj in qirān, performing tawāf (circumambulation) twice and sa‘y (walking between Safā and Marwah) twice, as many jurists of Kufa maintain, their justification is the report narrated by al-Dāraqutnī (1) through Mujāhid from Ibn ‘Umar: he combined Hajj and ‘umrah and said, “Both follow the same course.” The report states that he performed tawāf twice and sa‘y twice for them, and said, “I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) do exactly as I have done.”
It is also reported from ‘Alī that he combined the two, performed tawāf twice and sa‘y twice for them, and said, “I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) do exactly as I have done” (2).
Another report from ‘Alī ibn Abī Tālib states that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed qirān, performing tawāf twice and sa‘y twice (3).
‘Alqamah reported from ‘Abd Allāh (4), who said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed tawāf twice and sa‘y twice for his Hajj and ‘umrah, as did Abū Bakr, ‘Umar, ‘Alī, and Ibn Mas‘ūd” (5).
‘Imrān ibn Husayn reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed tawāf twice and sa‘y twice (6).
