Answer:
We must first devote our care and attention to tawḥīd (pure monotheism), for that was the way of all the prophets and messengers (peace be upon them).
In addition to what the question has already noted about the deplorable state of the Muslims, we say: this painful reality is no worse than the condition of the Arabs in the era of ignorance when our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was sent to them. The divine message is still among us in its perfect form, and there is a manifest group upon the truth who guide by it and invite people to the authentic Islam—sound in creed, worship, conduct, and methodology. There is no doubt that the condition of those pre-Islamic Arabs closely resembles the situation of many Muslim factions today.
On that basis we say: the cure is the same cure and the medicine is the same medicine. Just as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) treated that first jāhiliyyah, every Islamic caller today must remedy the widespread misunderstanding of the meaning of “lā ilāha illā Allāh” (there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah) and confront our painful reality with that very same treatment. This becomes crystal-clear when we reflect on the words of Allah the Exalted: “Certainly you have in the Messenger of Allah an excellent example for whoever hopes in Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah often” (al-Ahzab 21).
