In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy.
My Lord, by Your grace make this task easy, O Most Generous One. May Allah bless our master Muḥammad, his family, and all his companions, and grant them peace in full measure (1).
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds; the good end belongs to the God-fearing, and no hostility is shown except against the wrongdoers. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone, without partner—He who is described by the attributes of majesty and characterized by the traits (2) of perfection. He is far exalted above anything that would contradict His perfection by stripping away the realities of His names and attributes, an attitude (3) that would necessarily impute deficiency to Him and liken Him (4) to created beings. Denying the realities of His names and attributes entails both nullification and anthropomorphism, whereas affirming them in their perfect sense, which none but He deserves, is the very essence of monotheism and transcendence. The negator rejects the perfection of the One worshiped; the likener compares Him to slaves; the monotheist affirms (5) the realities of His names and the completeness of His attributes—and that is the pivot around which true tawḥīd turns. The negator worships a non-entity; the likener worships an idol; the monotheist worships a Lord like unto whom there is nothing. His are the Most Beautiful Names and the Most Exalted Attributes; His mercy and knowledge embrace all things.
I further bear witness that Muḥammad is His servant and messenger, the trustee of His revelation, the choicest of His creation, and His proof against His servants. He is the mercy bestowed upon all realms and the favor perfected for the believers who follow him. Allah sent him after a long interval in which messengers had ceased and the traces of the scriptures had faded,
