– We supplied full vocalisation for every problematic word, personal name, kunya (patronymic), lineage, place-name, and the like.
– In the text itself we inserted the opening folio marks of manuscript Ḥā in the form [q 1 b]; in the portion that is missing from Ḥā we instead inserted the corresponding folio marks of copy B in the form [B 75 a].
As for the annotation:
– Each citation in the book was verified and traced back to its original source, and every poem was referenced to its dīwān whenever possible; otherwise we cited the standard works of language and literature.
– The book’s hadiths were first extracted by our colleague Ḥusayn Bāqir, then reviewed, corrected, and completed by our colleague Karīm ibn Muḥammad ʿĪd; I subsequently examined them a second time and incorporated the remaining corrections and additions.
– We supplied precise page references for all of the author’s cross-references to earlier and later sections, thereby linking the various parts of the work to one another.
– Concise notes were added wherever clarification was required—explaining an unfamiliar term, resolving an ambiguity, removing a possible misunderstanding, or supplying a necessary correction.
– We also connected Ibn al-Qayyim’s discussions here with the pertinent passages in his other writings.
The entire work was then reviewed by the distinguished scholars Dr. Muḥammad Ajmal al-Iṣlāḥī and Dr. Suʿūd ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz al-ʿArīfī—may Allah reward them well. They corrected numerous errors, highlighted many places that called for further verification and accuracy, recommended the deletion of certain redundant linguistic explanations, and carefully refined the punctuation and related matters.
With regard to the critical introduction, I composed it in eleven sections, as listed above.
