Evidence for the Unsoundness of the Allegorists’ Method
It is enough to expose the weakness of their claim that none of them follows a stable rule as to what the intellect supposedly renders impossible. One of them will say that reason allows—or even obliges—what another insists reason declares impossible.
So I marvel: by which intellect do they weigh the Book and the Sunnah? May Allah be pleased with Imām Mālik ibn Anas, who said, “Every time a man more adept in argumentation than the last comes along, shall we abandon what Gabriel brought to Muhammad ﷺ for the sake of their disputation?”
