—as for the attributes of Allah the Exalted, they are well-known in knowledge and clearly recognised; any comparison between them and created qualities has been rejected. Thus, affirming them is obligatory, and probing their exact modality is unwarranted.
Among the convictions we hold is that Allah has made lawful earning a livelihood through commerce, trades, and crafts; He has only forbidden fraud and wrongdoing. Whoever declares lawful earnings to be forbidden is himself astray, a misleader, and an innovator, for corruption, injustice, and deception are not inherent to trade and industry. What Allah and His Messenger have prohibited is corruption, not commerce and gainful work. On the basis of the Book and the Sunnah, these remain permissible until the Day of Resurrection.
We likewise believe that Allah would never command His servants to consume what is lawful and then deny them access to it from every avenue, for that which He has required of them will remain available until the Day of Resurrection. Therefore, anyone who believes that the earth is devoid of lawful provisions and that people are inevitably mired in the unlawful is an innovator and misguided.
