and he has never ceased, with Satan continually prompting him, until he rejected the Lord’s own words: “Faces on that Day will be radiant, gazing at their Lord” (Al-Qiyamah 75:22–23). He went so far as to claim, “No one will see Him on the Day of Resurrection.” By Allah, in doing so he denied the finest honor Allah has reserved for His friends on that Day—beholding His Face and being gladdened by it—“in a seat of truth, in the presence of a Sovereign, Omnipotent” (Al-Qamar 54:55).
