These people then reject rational evidence in this whole area outright. Consequently, in the matter of knowing Allah, they grant neither rational knowledge nor transmitted knowledge to the Messenger ﷺ or to his community. In this they coincide with the atheistic freethinkers on several fronts. They are wrong in imputing ignorance to the Messenger ﷺ and to the early generations, just as the people of distortion, the proponents of unsound figurative interpretations, and the various other types of unbelievers have erred.
